Social Media: A Hiatus

The sunset on January 1st, ablaze with red, purple and orange, was beautiful to behold. It made me think of the importance of PRESENCE. With it in mind, I decided to start off the new year right and take a break from social media.
While it's been a source of inspiration, fun, connection and keeping current, lately I’ve noticed a shift in perspective. It’s distracting me from full presence in my LIFE. It’s also felt a little anxiety-making, the amount of noise I’m allowing to come through and take up space in my already busy mind. Finally, I’m not proud to say, it’s even activated my ego in counter productive ways (oh ya know, with some form of comparison, judgement, or whatever other low frequency thought feels icky in the body).
Time for a reset and a shift in FOCUS. My top words for 2021 are:
* PRESENCE - I commit to being more present in each precious moment. Spending more time within my pod without my phone nearby. Spending more time in nature for reflection, contemplation and journaling down my experience.
* EXPANSION - it’s a time of exploration of mind, body and spirit, a time of setting very clear intentions, grounding with good daily habits, following my curiosity, and holding true to promises I made to myself.
* FLOW - in my 20s and 30s my favorite word was HUSTLE and that was fitting. Now, I prefer the word FLOW, because it implies a well-rested state. Being in the zone is all about being fully immersed in the moment with energized focus, full involvement, commitment and enjoyment in the process. It’s the opposite of forcing or mindlessly grinding away at something.
I’ve mobilized my entire life to be able to write and publish my first novel (and Universe willing, more books after that). Everything in my life flows toward that goal. And so I must remove all the little roadblocks I create for myself.
Already, I feel lighter.
